Filipino Food is Full of Variety

Filipino food is something that is very different from the vast majority of food types found allover the world. For someone who has never had Filipino food, they may find it a bit interesting to say the least.

Filipinos love their food no matter what you say about it. They also love it a certain way. The biggest example of this can be seen the moment you walk into any international restaurant in the Philippines.

While some of the Filipino food is more traditional, it has also been influenced in many ways from various cuisines allover the world. One of the all-time favorite meals in the Philippines is spaghetti. When talking about Filipino food and spaghetti, the first thing anyone who is not Filipino will notice is that the sauce is particularly Filipino in that it is sweeter then anything else you can think of. Filipinos love spaghetti so much that a trip to McDonalds will yield McSpaghetti. That’s right, spaghetti at McDonalds.

Of course there is more to Filipino foods then spaghetti, there is a fondness for chicken; especially that of the deep fried form. While one can go to a KFC in the Philippines, you are more likely to see Filipinos at places like McDonalds and Jollibee ordering a fried chicken and spaghetti value meal.

Let’s not forget the all time favorite bar food in the Philippines which is balut. While the rest of the world snacks on bread and peanuts at the bar, when it comes to Filipino food, nothing beats a 3 day old fertilized egg complete with feathers, bones and beak.

To say the least, Filipino foods while influenced from world-wide cuisines, they have a certain flair all to their own which makes them nothing less then purely Filipino. Of the foods that are available though, when it is time for dinner you will notice a medley of things like chicken, pork, fish and of course lots of rice. There are so many ways one can eat Filipino food and each one has its own unique taste to it.

Pork for example can be fried, cooked over an open fire or even boiled. Deep fried checherons or for those from other countries; pork rinds can be found almost anywhere and the ones in the Philippines are not all dried out, but rather still full of flavor and juices.

On the other hand, chicken can come prepared many more ways. Filipino food and chicken means having to select from fried to barbecued and a lot more. Everyone knows the word Adidas and most of the world thinks of shoes but in the Philippines you are talking about barbecue chicken feet. Of course on the same menu we don’t even want to begin to explain what helmets are.

Fish too comes in many flavors when talking about Filipino foods. These fish can be large or small and they can be fresh or dried. They can be prepared in a form of soup or even cooked in vinegar.

All meals are made with fresh ingredients straight from the local markets and of course they also include rice because you cannot mention Filipino food without also mentioning rice.
